Thomas John Wanta, was born to eternal life on December 10, 2025 at the age of 94, and finally free of pain forever.
Survived by his most wonderful, loving wife, Laura “Punkin”, of nearly 61 years; sister-in-law, Sharon Bertling; nephews, nieces, many other family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Boniface and Blanche Wanta; brothers, Steve and Gerald; sisters, Dolores Wanta and Mary Lohrman; and brother-in-law, Jim Bertling.
Tom was a graduate of Marquette High School and Marquette University where he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. He served in the U.S. Navy as a jet pilot having been stationed in Japan and the Philippines. He joined Sentry Insurance and rose to the position of Claims Manager of the Milwaukee office. He was elected past president of the Milwaukee Claims Managers Executive Council, and a past president of the Wisconsin Claims Council, as well as being elected a past chairman of the Milwaukee Special Arbitration Committee.
Tom and Laura greatly enjoyed their extensive travels throughout the world having visited a total of 81 countries and took more than 30 cruises the world over. In addition, they were ardent bikers, hikers and downhill skiers, having been life-long members of the Vagabond Ski Club.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Drive in Hartland. Private inurnment will be held.
