Thomas "Tom" Hoefs, 76, of Neosho, Wisconsin, passed away January 23, 2026. Tom is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marjorie (Merkel); daughters Kendra (Kevin) Keesler and Kelly Hoefs (Michael Kerlin); grandchildren Jordan and Brandon Dudor; his brother Bill (Diane) Hoefs, and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Irene (Smith) Hoefs, and sister Janice (late LeRoy) Meyers.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was a proud 1967 graduate of Pulaski High School, where he became known as "The Voice of The Rams" for announcing at basketball games. After high school, Tom served in the Air Force as a Material Facilities Specialist. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served at the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. After being honorably discharged, he became a welder at the Koehring Company, where he worked on mining equipment. Tom was later employed by the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years, followed by a career as a Realtor.
With his first wife, Sandra (Barutha), he had two beautiful daughters whom he loved very much. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Tom met his second wife, Marjorie, in 1998. The pair loved traveling together and got engaged in Grenada in 2001. After marrying in Milwaukee in 2004, they moved to Neosho, Wisconsin, where they enjoyed the quiet life watching birds and other wildlife until his passing.
As a warm and gregarious person, Tom treasured time with his family and large circle of friends. They brought him much laughter and joy. Tom loved music too. In middle school, he played the tuba, in high school, he sang in the Acapella Choir, and in his retirement, he played guitar while leading much-loved family sing-alongs. He enjoyed cooking and baking, and for a time cranked out lots of delicious handmade bagels. Everything he cooked was in big batches. Tom loved dogs and had several over his lifetime. Each one was cherished. He brought them on his many camping trips to the Wisconsin State Parks.
Tom made friends easily, and anyone lucky enough to have known him will remember his warm smile, big bear hugs, and infectious laugh.
