Shirley Burczyk died peacefully in the care of her loving family at the age of 93. Longtime resident of Mequon, WI, spending winters in Sun City, AZ, Shirley was a devout Catholic. She ensured that all her children received a Catholic education, she founded the Eucharistic Ministry to the Homebound program at her church, Lumen Christi, and supported numerous Catholic charities.
Also involved in the community, Shirley served as the Chairman of the Mequon-Thiensville Girl Scouts, a member of the St. Cecilia School board, and a member of the St. Cecilia Parish Council.
Shirley continued to work into her 70s, running Burczyk Acres/Burczyk Family Farm alongside her husband, Charlie. Spending so many summers “going to Market” and giving Pumpkin Tours.
Upon retirement, she and Charlie traveled on cruise ships around the world, including the Mediterranean, Alaska, the Baltic states, Russia, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, and around Cape Horn. They also traveled to Australia and many US National Parks. Until her final years, Shirley led a very active life, enjoying golf and traveling. She was a frequent winner at bridge, sheepshead, poker, and Skip-Bo.
After retirement, Shirley took up watercolor painting and won awards for her barn paintings, her favorite subject matter. Surviving are her six children: Chuck (Kitty), Craig (Kathy), Brian (Sue), Blaine (Mary), Andy (Jackie), and Lisa, thirteen grandchildren: Jaclyn, Jennifer, Dan, Megan, Michael, David, Rachel, Nicole, Kimberly, Drew, Aaron, Alex, and Casey. She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren: Wilson, Charles, Harrison, Henry, Hayden, Oliver, and Liam, as well as her sisters, Sandra (Gary) and Sue (Jack). Preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, Charles, and her parents, Claude and Wilma.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on November 8, at 11:00 AM at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Rd, Mequon, WI, followed by a luncheon in the parish hall. Visitation at church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass.
