Sarah T. Buerger

April 9, 1941 — July 21, 2025

Sarah (Sadie) Buerger, age 84 of Delafield, entered Eternal Life on July 21, 2025, at Shorehaven Retirement Community, where she had been residing.

Born April 9, 1941, to Sarah and Michael Prenty in Curry Kirwan, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland, Sadie entered the world into a full house, being the youngest of 7 children on an active farm and homestead brimming with love.

After earning a Business Associate’s degree, she immigrated to the United States and moved in with her eldest brother and his family, and worked as a legal secretary. The stories told by Sadie of her adventures in New York City are unparalleled and have captivated many. One year later, she decided to give Texas a try and moved in with her sister, Ellen. This is where she met her match, Bob Buerger. As the story goes, “I was looking for a Texas oil Man and found a Wisconsin farmer!”. They married in April 1966 and moved to Atlanta. Later, they settled in St. Louis and started a family before Bob’s career ended up bringing them to Wisconsin.

Throughout the years, Sadie had a blast playing tennis, golf, volunteering, and working in retail when the time allowed. She was a devoted mother, devout catholic, passionate about politics, and quite sociable. Her charming Irish brogue and glint in her eye opened many doors along the way and made sure she never knew a stranger.

Her pride and joy were her 3 grandsons and their “shenanigans” as she would say. Sadie made sure to take each one at the age of 8 for a one-on-one trip to her beloved homeland, Ireland.

Sadie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert Francis Buerger, as well as her two children, Kyle Buerger of Oak Creek, Sarah (Sean) Hamer of Brookfield, 3 grandchildren, Dillon, Colin, and Nolan Hamer, her sister Ellen, and twenty-one nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Dr., Hartland, WI. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. A reception will follow.

Special thanks to the caregivers at Shorehaven for their tender and compassionate care of Sadie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made or sent directly to St. Patrick’s Missionary Society in Chicago, Illinois. www.stpatrickfathers.org
