Pete was born on June 29, 1962 in Minneapolis and later moved to Eau Claire as a toddler. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the age of 62.
Pete spent his childhood playing hockey as a Mite and continued through high school skating for the Old Abes. He was a great defenseman and immensely enjoyed the game.
His educational years were spent at Putnam Heights Elementary, Central Junior High, Eau Claire Memorial and UW-Eau Claire. After graduating from UW - Eau Claire with his B.S. in Environmental Public Health, he moved to Chicago working for Micron Environmental for several years before furthering his environmental career with the Sigma Environmental Group in two separate facilities in Wisconsin. In the middle of his career, Pete relocated back to Eau Claire working for the Eau Claire Press Company, Gold Cross Courier Service and most recently for the Eau Claire School District.
Pete was an extraordinary photographer and took a particular interest in taking pictures of old barns, old homes, nature and wildlife. His photos can still be seen on Instagram at @pete54701. Pete also enjoyed finding agates during his travels, along with fishing and hunting with his close friends. In 2021, Pete crossed paths with an adorable puppy that he brought home and named Letty. They have been the best of buddies ever since.
Pete is survived by sisters, Sally Hazen and Amy Eddins, nieces Sam, McKenzie, Sasha, and Marissa. He is further survived by his maternal aunt Sharon (Noel) and cousins Molly, Emily, Susan, Ken, Ron and Lisa along with their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kay and Ron, paternal aunt and uncle Sally and Ken as well as both sets of grandparents.
Pete will certainly be missed by his family and friends, but especially his best friend Haley Adams. Together, Pete and Haley forged a very strong, supportive and lasting friendship.
To remember and celebrate his life, a gathering has been planned for Saturday, October 12th, 2024 from 2PM to 5PM at the Mousetrap Tavern in Eau Claire located at 311 S. Barstow Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the SSADH Association (www.ssadh.net), an organization that Pete has supported for 25 years.
