Mildred I. Bierman

Millie Bierman passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2025, with her husband Jim at her side.

Millie was born on June 16, 1939, in Theresa, WI. She had a happy childhood growing up on the Gundrum Century Stead in Allenton, with her fun and loving siblings, Herb, Rita, and Teresa, her parents, Cornelius and Margaret, and her Aunt Helen. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Allenton, where she graduated in a class of six. Millie often talked about walking a mile and a half down Highway 33 from the farm to school. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1957.

After high school, Millie left Allenton for Milwaukee, where she studied at St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Class of 1960. There she met dear friends who stayed with her through her adult life. One Saturday night, Millie went dancing with her sister Rita at Marty Zivko’s dance hall in Hartford, and there she met the love of her life, Jim Bierman. Jim and Millie were married on November 4, 1961, and settled in Hartland, where they had four children: Jeff, Jill, Beth, and Cindy. In 1965, they built and moved into their home, where they have lived since. The home is filled with Millie’s spirit and personality, with an open door for family and friends.

For decades, Millie was an active member of the St. Charles parish community, where she volunteered countless hours for the school and the church and had many social connections. As a devoted nurse, Millie worked at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, even getting a ride with Jim on a snowmobile to make it to work in a winter storm. She established the Adult Day Care Center at Oconomowoc Memorial and managed the Center until she retired.

Millie will be remembered for her sweet, fun, and untiring love of family and friends, especially her nine grandchildren, for whom she’d do anything.

Millie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim, her son Jeff (Sophia), her daughters Jill (Jeff), Beth (Matthias), Cindy (Steve), her grandchildren Ben, Abby (Tyler), Sarah (Adam), Katie (Jack), Mark (Courtney), Lara (Isaac), Anna, Stephen (Jane), Annie, and great-granddaughter Harper.

A funeral will be held for Millie at St. Charles Parish in Hartland on August 7, 2025. Visitation 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Mass at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Millie’s name to Friends of the Hartland Library (in memo line: for children’s area remodel) or Saint Charles School (in memo line: in memory of Millie Bierman).
