Mary W. Rickmeier

December 28, 1941 — June 22, 2025

Mary Woehr Rickmeier passed away on June 22, 2025, at AngelsGrace Hospice at age 83. Mary was born in Milwaukee, WI, to Harold and Anita Woehr. She lived in Hartland, WI, and was also a Florida resident, where she enjoyed spending winters in Delray Beach.

She is survived by children Liesl (David) Ackley, John W., and Robin, and grandchildren Suzanne and Henry Ackley. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Steve, nephew Carl (Megan) Rickmeier, niece Nanette (Randy) Prost, niece Gillian (Matthew) Schmitz, nephew Mark (Stephanie) Rickmeier, and other loved cousins, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, dear husband John, and in-laws Carl and Vern Rickmeier.

Mary attended grade and high school at Milwaukee Downer Seminary (which became University School of Milwaukee). Mary then earned a B.A. in Marketing from UW-Madison where she was a lifelong Badger fan and a proud member of Delta Gamma sorority. During October of her senior year, Mary met John at the Manor Bar. They were married the following July and remained happily married for 63 years.

Throughout her many years in the Lake Country area, Mary was involved in countless social and charitable endeavors. Mary served as the 2004-2005 Kettle Moraine Garden Club president and participated for nearly 26 years. She was a member of the Service Club of Milwaukee, Junior League and Lake Country Players. She was a strong supporter of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee County Zoo, and Milwaukee Public Television. She was also a long standing member of Chenequa Country Club, Delray Beach Club, Pine Lake Yacht Club, North Lake Yacht Club, and St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Mary enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, reading mystery novels and the daily newspaper, gardening, playing tennis and golf, and shopping with her daughters. She also loved decorating for the holidays, hosting formal dinner parties for family and friends, and attending Monday night cocktail parties around the Fountain House pool.

Mary's love for travel was deeply inspired by her parents. For over 25 years, she and John enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean, especially their cherished spot, Curtain Bluff, in Antigua.

Some of her other favorite destinations included two trips to Africa, Bermuda, Alaska, Europe, China, the Panama Canal, and Disney. She also particularly enjoyed small boat and ship cruises.

Mary was loving, cheerful, classy, and kind. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial, including the cardiac team, second floor doctors and nurses, and the ICU for the outstanding care.

Services will be held on July 1, 2025, at St. Teresa Calcutta Parish in North Lake, WI. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:30 a.m.
