Martin Thomas Franke Jr., born March 10, 1947, in Milwaukee, passed away peacefully at Oconomowoc ProHealth Hospital on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Marty chose to serve his country and joined the United States Army in 1967, where he earned multiple medals and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He later pursued his education in engineering.

Upon returning from distinguished service overseas, he followed in his father’s footsteps, creating his own path as a pioneer in the telecommunications industry by being at the forefront of cellular communications from its earliest days of inception.

Outside of work, Marty’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. His best memories came from serving as Chair of the Door County Airport Commission, piloting airplanes, riding motorcycle, racing Corvette’s and ‘holding court’ at Palmers with his buddies.

Marty is survived by his wife Ann Wallschlager- Franke, step- son Austin Wallschlager, Shaun Franke & Richard Franke, Patty (Franke) Wendt and Steven Franke. Marty was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Franke, and his sons Ryan and Ross Franke.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Marty on Saturday, November 1st, from 12 – 2 P.M. at Smoke on the Water restaurant in Okauchee. (N50W35016 Wisconsin Ave.)
