Marilyn K. Johlfs

October 21, 1947 — April 16, 2026

Marilyn K. Johlfs, (legally known as Marilyn Petone), age 78, entered peacefully into eternal rest and received into the arms of her Heavenly Father on April 16, 2026, with her family by her side. Her life was filled with love for family, friends, and the simple joys of everyday moments. She will be remembered for her generosity, compassion, and unwavering care she provided for those around her. Her deep love and devotion to her family will be cherished always.

Marilyn was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and raised in both Douglas and Tucson, Arizona. She was a woman of quiet strength and strong character who always wanted the very best for her family. Above all else, she treasured the time she spent with them.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Helen Johlfs, and her beloved infant daughter, Corinne Paige.

She is survived and deeply missed by her children, Joyce (Shawn) Hansen and Michael Hoffman. She was the proud and loving grandmother to her two cherished granddaughters, Grace Hoffman and Joslyn Hansen. Known affectionately as “Gramma,” she was a source of nurture, warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. She will also be dearly missed by her close-knit extended family, which included many cousins who were like siblings to her.

Marilyn faced Ovarian Cancer with extraordinary strength and resolve. From the moment of her diagnosis, she met the illness head-on, refusing to let it define her spirit or limit the love she gave to those around her. Through multiple surgeries, treatments, and countless difficult days, she showed courage that inspired everyone who knew her. Even in the face of uncertainty, she continued to offer warmth, humor, and compassion, reminding us all what true resilience looks like. While the disease ultimately took her from us, it never diminished her strength, her dignity, or the profound impact she had on the lives she touched. Her bravery remains a lasting testament to the remarkable woman she was. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and volunteers at ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice for the kindness and care shown to Marilyn and her family during her final days.

During this time of sorrow, Marilyn prayed that the family would find peace and reassurance in the words of John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Private services were immediately held for the family at AngelsGrace Hospice.

Donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at ORCAHope.com or to a Down syndrome charity of your choice.
