Marianne Hlava, nee Sieke of Sussex WI was called home by our Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the age of 85. She passed away peacefully at Hartland Terrace in Hartland, WI.
Marianne was a first generation American born August 9, 1940 in Milwaukee WI to Emil and Hilde Sieke who were German immigrants.
Marianne grew up in Brookfield, WI and graduated from Brookfield East High School in June 1958. Marianne met her husband Charles at the young age of 15. They married on June 25, 1960, and shared 58 anniversaries before Charles’ passing in 2018. We know our mom is dancing again with our dad with no more pain, illness or disease.
Marianne held many different jobs throughout her working career. The job she enjoyed the most was being a school bus driver for special needs children. But to Marianne, her most important “job” was being a wife and mom.
Family meant a lot to Marianne. She dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As well as our old family dog, Buddy, and her rescue dogs, Moose and Missy.
She loved to laugh and often said, “Being able to always find something to laugh about, especially during difficult times, is what gets you through them”. She enjoyed spending time at their condo in Myrtle Beach and took up golf later in life so she could join our dad on the golf course. She was also an avid bowler and spent many years in different bowling leagues.
One of Marianne’s favorite pastimes was gardening, and for several years she was a member of the Menomonee Falls Garden Club. She always had a vegetable garden and would spend hours in the kitchen canning produce from her garden. Marianne also loved to crochet. She crocheted many prayer shawls for Community Memorial Hospital along with blankets for family and friends.
Our parents taught us kids how to work hard. We each started working at the age of 12 doing our subdivision paper route, which was in our family for over 20 years.
We will deeply miss our mom/grandma/great-grandma. May her love continue to shine in our hearts each and every day.
Marianne is survived by her children; Dan (Beth), Susan (Steve), Gary (Andrea), Mark (Michelle) and her 8 grandchildren; Adam, Lauren, Andrew, Miranda (Kyle), Mitchell (Wendy), Carley (Noah), Hunter & Braeden and her two great-grandchildren; Carter & Kinsley. She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, her brother, her husband and all of her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
In memory of Marianne, please donate to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Association and/or the WI Humane Society.
