John Alfred Myatt

July 17, 1928 — February 28, 2026

John “Jack” Myatt Sr. lived a long and remarkable life filled with service, adventure, friendship, and a deep love for his family. He passed away at home on February 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and cherished memories that will live on through the many generations who were blessed to know him.

Jack proudly served his country as a World War II veteran, carrying that honor with quiet pride throughout his life. After his service, he made his home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked hard, built lifelong friendships, and raised his family. Jack had a passion for golf, a game he enjoyed for many years, and he loved traveling and experiencing new places throughout his life.

Jack was first blessed in marriage to Nancy Crane Myatt, with whom he shared four children: John Myatt Jr. (Debbie), Deborah Myatt Sellers (Jebb), Robert Myatt (Penny), and Susan Myatt. Together, they built a loving home and raised their family in Milwaukee.

Later in life, Jack married Sharlene “Sherry” Myatt, and together they shared many wonderful years of love and adventure. Jack became a devoted stepfather to Jody Herr and Dan (Mary) McCormick, warmly embracing their families as his own. After retiring, Jack and Sherry moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine and the many friendships they formed. They especially loved traveling the world on their tandem bicycle and taking cruises, creating countless unforgettable memories along the way.

Jack was a proud grandfather to John Myatt III, Stacey Granger, Rebecca (Charlie) Ganey, William (Darcy) Myatt, Timothy Palmer, Benjamin Peterson (Rachel Pader), Katherine Heller, Nancy (Jay) Bruening, Wendy (Al) Menning, Jessica (Mike) McGarry, Jamie Lynch, Lindsay (Chris) Igl, Brittany McCormick (Patrick Lynch), and Dan McCormick (Mitra Amini). He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great pride and joy.

In the final chapter of his life, Jack shared nine loving years with Mary Longer, whose companionship brought him great happiness and added another caring and supportive family to his life.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart Myatt and Mary Ryman Myatt; his beloved wife, Nancy Crane Myatt; his loving wife, Sharlene “Sherry” Myatt; his son, John Myatt Jr.; and his granddaughter, Wendy Menning.

He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, stepchildren, extended family, and many dear friends who will forever remember his wise stories, humor, and adventurous spirit. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Chance, who was a loyal and constant companion.

Jack’s life was truly blessed by three wonderful women who loved him deeply and helped grow the beautiful family that surrounds his legacy today. He will be remembered as a man who lived fully—serving his country, loving deeply, traveling the world, enjoying a good round of golf, and cherishing time with family and friends.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
