Gerard “Gerry” Miller, 66, of Hartland, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 14, 2026, surrounded by family and close friends. He touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, and generous spirit.
Gerry was born May 3,1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Francis and Mary Patricia Miller. He grew up as one of nine children, learning early the values of teamwork, resilience, and faith that would guide him throughout his life. Surrounded by siblings, he developed a deep love for sports, spending countless hours playing and competing, a passion that stayed with him well into adulthood. Those early years shaped his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and appreciation for camaraderie—traits that defined the way he lived and connected with others.
Gerry was a proud graduate of St. Thomas More High School, where he excelled in multiple sports and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. His exceptional athleticism earned him a baseball scholarship to Southern Illinois University, where he was forever a proud Saluki. Gerry’s success at the collegiate level led to his being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers. Following his baseball career, he built a distinguished 30-plus-year career with Sherwin-Williams Paint Company, earning leadership roles while growing sales and mentoring countless individuals.
Beyond his many accomplishments, Gerry will be remembered most for the way he lived and the people he loved. He had a lifelong passion for coaching youth sports, finding great joy in mentoring young athletes and teaching the values of teamwork, discipline, and confidence. An avid golfer, Gerry treasured time on the course especially when shared with family and friends. He loved traveling with his wife, creating memories together through new places and experiences. Music was another constant joy in his life, and he rarely missed the chance to attend a classic rock concert – especially at Summerfest. Above all, Gerry was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend whose generosity, enthusiasm and love for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Susan; his daughter, Amanda Herald (Jeffrey); and his son, David Miller. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughter, Riley Herald, and grandson, Jace Herald, who were the absolute joys of his life. Gerry is also survived by his siblings, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
