George M. Behrens

October 14, 1940 — February 20, 2026

George Millard Behrens, 85, passed away on February 20, 2026, in Wisconsin.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, George carried his Midwest roots with him throughout his life, eventually retiring to Las Vegas, Nevada. A proud and dedicated over-the-road truck driver, George spent his life working hard to provide for his family. The miles he drove were a reflection of the depth of his commitment — steady, dependable, and always moving forward for the people he loved.

George was a man of quiet strength and strong character. He believed in hard work, in doing things the right way, and in always wanting the very best for his family. More than anything, he loved being around them. Whether it was sharing stories, offering advice, or simply listening — something he did exceptionally well — George made those around him feel heard and valued.

He was quick-witted, generous, and deeply loving. A gentle soul, George had a calm presence that drew others to him — including every dog he met. All of his “grand doggies” were naturally attracted to him, and dogs seemed to sense the kindness in his heart. When he would babysit the dogs for his son Matt and daughter-in-law Kathi, Sierra, Sam, Shorty, Suri, Shiloh, and Hank would surround him, content just to be near him. They adored him, and he adored them right back. In his quieter moments, George enjoyed drawing and taking walks with his beloved dog, Cooley — simple pleasures that reflected his thoughtful and steady nature.

George is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; his daughter, Kelly and her husband, Paul; and his sons, George and Matthew and Matthew’s wife, Kathi. He was a proud grandfather to Kaily and her husband, Austin; Taylor and her husband, Alex; and Jacob. To all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren — Myla, Barrett, Brantley, and Jeremiah — he was lovingly known as “Papa,” a name that meant warmth, safety, and unconditional love. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys; his brother, Beau; and his father, George.

His legacy lives on not only in the work ethic he instilled, but in the love and steadiness he gave so freely. Whether you knew him as George or as “Papa,” you knew a man who showed up, who listened, who provided, and who loved without hesitation. He built a life centered around family, and in return was surrounded by their love — children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a circle of loyal dogs who simply wanted to be close to him. He worked hard, loved deeply, and leaves behind a family who will forever carry his strength, his humor, and his gentle heart forward. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Private family services will be held.
