It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Evelyn “Tootie” Adams, with her family beside her, she left us peacefully on July 7, 2025 at the age of 87.
Evelyn was a long-time resident of Hartland, WI. She was the cornerstone of our family and community. Evelyn’s warmth, generosity, and her quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew her.
Evelyn spent many joyful years working at Hartbrook Hardware, where her friendly smile and helping hands made her a familiar face and trusted friend to customers and coworkers alike. Outside of work, she was a constant presence in the stands, cheering on her children and grandchildren as their number one fan at every game, meet or match. Her unwavering support was the soundtrack of our family’s victories and growth. We can still hear her cheering! Known for her incredible cooking, Evelyn had a special way of bringing people around the table. As the unofficial family nurse, she kept everyone in check with her nutritious smoothies and gentle care. She was also the go-to driving instructor for every grandchild, nurturing patience even in traffic.
Evelyn was more than a mother, grandmother, sister or friend; she was our number one call, the person we turned to for advice, comfort, or laughter. She taught us how to show up for each other, how to lead with compassion, and how to laugh through life’s challenges. Though we mourn her loss, we carry her spirit forward by living the lessons she taught us: To be kind, to be present, and to love without condition. Evelyn’s legacy is woven into our everyday lives, and her memory will forever guide us.
Loving mother to Jane (Mark Walters), Gail (Tom), Kathy (Ron Tetzlaff), Patricia (Richard Winkelman), Mark (Mary Paullin) Adams; grandchildren, Alison, Katlyn, Miranda, Kailee & RJ; and great-grandchildren, Colton, Ellanor, Liam, Miles and baby girl Wilcox (coming soon). Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Adams; her father, Arthur Marquardt and mother, Helen Bierman Marquardt; sisters, Anita Delsman, Bernice (Robert) Smithyman, and brother, Norman (Leila) Marquardt.
At her request, a private burial will take place with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you honor her memory with an act of kindness or a home-cooked meal shared with someone you love.
