Ella Mae Clausen passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 107. She was born on May 9, 1918 to Frank and Elsie (Teuteberg) Lund in the Town of Merton. Married to (the late) William Clausen in March 1949.
Ella Mae had numerous hobbies and interests over the years. She learned to play the acoustic and steel guitar early on in life. Ella Mae also loved to read and sew as well as show off her “green thumb.” Her flowers and plants were always flourishing through the years. One Christmas cactus in particular has been in the family for decades, thanks to Ella Mae’s tender care. Bird watching was also a favorite hobby of Ella Mae’s. She was delighted when birds would arrive to her window feeder, but if squirrels made their way to it, she would be sure to scare them off. Among all of these hobbies, card games were another favorite, especially Skip Bo. The thrill she had when she won (which was more often than not) and to hear her laugh was worth losing the game to her. As for sports, Ella Mae’s favorite teams to watch on TV were the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. You could always count on Ella Mae to keep all family and friends updated with their outcomes. Lastly, but definitely not least Ella Mae adored dogs. In particular, she had a special bond with the neighbor dog, Marli.
Ella Mae was heavily involved at her church for many years. She enjoyed working at the rummage sales, organizing the annual pecan sale by calling everyone at church to obtain orders. She loved being a member of the bells group, until she decided it was time to retire at the young age of 100.
Ella Mae’s laugh was contagious. She would brighten up every room that she was in and was a wonderful person to be around. She will truly be missed.
Ella Mae is survived by her grandsons Jonathan (Tiffany) and Benjamin Clausen, dear friends Kris, Karen, and Emily, and countless family and friends including her namesake. Proceeded in death by her son, Scott, brothers Gilbert and Woodrow, sisters Viola, Vera and Ina, sister-in-law Jane Clausen and many more family members and friends that were all a part of her life story.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Crystal at Agrace Hospice and Jennifer, along with the entire Woodland team at Shorehaven, who have provided such great care for Ella Mae over the last several months.
