Dennis E. Scherbarth

Dennis Edward Scherbarth, age 82, of Hartland passed away on Saturday, June 25 at Angel’s Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

He was born on June 7th, 1944 in Milwaukee to Edward and Lillian. Dennis was a loving and devoted husband to Maureen (nee Marsicek) for nearly 59 years. He was the best ‘girl dad’ and most supportive father and father-in-law to Kristin and Shawn Owens; and he went above and beyond for his two grandsons, Keagan and Jake Owens. Dennis is further survived by his sister Yvonne Burns, Niece Kathy Hunter (Ethan), Nephews Tim Burns and Jeff Serio (Brenda).

Dennis is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Lori Ann, and his sister Marilyn Serio (Michael) and brother-in-law, John Burns.

Dennis joined the Air Force after graduating from Wauwatosa East High School. After serving four years, he worked as an Operations Leader for American Can Company in Milwaukee for almost 25 years. Never one to slow down, he continued to work at various jobs well into his 70’s, finally serving as Soeren’s Ford’s often-requested courtesy driver for almost 15 years.

Dennis was known for getting things done, standing up for what is right and treating everyone with kindness. He enjoyed time spent outside - caring for his yard and garden and socializing with family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hartland on Monday, August 3 at 11am. Family and friends are invited to gather directly at the church from 10am until the time of mass. A reception will follow. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Angel’s Grace Hospice for taking such good care of him or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of his daughter, Lori Ann.
