David C. Luko, age 66, formerly of Hartland, WI, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on June 20, 2025.
He is survived by his children: Mallory (Carson Cantwell), Charlie (Kelsey Stevens), and Abigail (Cody Johnson); his beloved granddaughters: Camryn, Vivianne, and Chandler; and his sisters: Vicki (Del Buchholz) and Gayle (Jim Brezonick). He is also lovingly remembered by his former wife and the mother of his children, Gail Huckstep Arnold; his nieces: Andraea, Dena, and Madelyn; his nephew: Adam (Calli); his aunt: Carol Pfeiffer; and many other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. (Dick) and Nancy Luko; and his grandparents: Charles J. (Charlie) and Teresa (Tress) Luko, and Edward J. (Ed) and Vera Kurtz.
David dedicated many years of his life to serving families as a funeral director and also pursued his craft as a skilled taxidermist. He was a storyteller, a jokester, and always quick with a quote from a Clint Eastwood movie. He had a deep love for the outdoors—especially hunting, fishing, and spending time out West. He often referred to himself as a “freedom fighter” and took pride in living off the grid, on his own terms.
David was truly one-of-a-kind—a man of strong convictions, wild spirit, and love for his family and friends. His presence, laughter, and stories will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
