David Clair Lamerand III, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, on July 10, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on April 27, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to David C. Lamerand, Jr. and Jean Ione Nourse.
David lived a full life with his one and only Shirley by his side for 56 years, and together they built a life with lots of love, laughter, family, friendships, and community.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his cherished daughter, Amy Lamerand Zott. His surviving family includes his wife, Shirley Lamerand, his son Scott (Sherri) Lamerand, and son-in-law Jeff Zott. His legacy continues through four adult grandchildren: Benjamin (Lacey) Zott, Catherine (Danton) Holcomb, Alex Lamerand, and Ryan Lamerand. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters, Kathleen (John) Watkins and Barbara (the late Lawrence) Rehm, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
David dedicated decades of his life to public service. He served twenty years in the Army Reserves and, this past fall, had the distinct privilege of participating in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. His deep involvement in the Hartland community began as a Village Trustee and culminated in 26 years of dedicated service as Village President. David’s "community-first" attitude was the cornerstone of his steady leadership and commitment. In recognition of his impact, the Hartland Chamber of Commerce honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and his legacy is permanently etched into the community with the recent dedication of Lamerand Park. When he wasn’t serving the public, David volunteered faithfully at his church and operated D.C.L. Financial Consulting in downtown Hartland. Yet, for all his achievements, David will be remembered for his friendly demeanor, contagious humor, his soft spot for dogs, and passion for Wisconsin sports.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Cancer Care Clinic at ProHealth and to AngelsGrace Hospice.
David’s funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Charles Catholic Church (313 Circle Dr), Hartland, WI. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m., with Military Honors starting at 11:45 and a Mass following at noon. A luncheon will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Hall.
