Bonnie L. Joy Vallely (née Banks), age 82 of Hartland, Wisconsin, left us the morning of June 11, 2026. Bonnie was in home hospice, well cared for by her family and hospice staff, as well as by her doggies, Sadie and Copper.
Bonnie was born in Chicago in 1943. She lived in Barrington and Palatine, Illinois, graduating from Barrington High School. Most of her working career was with Wisconsin Bell and AT&T, retiring in 1998.
Bonnie had two children with her first husband, Jeffrey and Gregory. Bonnie married Hugh Vallely in 1985, blending Hugh’s three boys, Keith, Rodney, and Neil, into one family for 41 years. Sadly, both Rodney and Gregory predeceased Bonnie.
Bonnie’s loving son, Jeffrey, is married to Jennifer (née Havas) and has provided Bonnie with a beautiful granddaughter, Meredith. Bonnie's stepson, Keith, is married to Stacey (née Baun) while Neil remains single. Bonnie has two step-grandchildren, Ren and Spencer, who reside in North Carolina.
Bonnie enjoyed motorcycling vacations with friends, which included riding to the East Coast, the Rocky Mountains, and having dinner with Neil Diamond in Sturgis, South Dakota…as well as looking for Elvis in Memphis and Graceland.
She traveled to Europe several times, discovered that she loved Paris, all of Italy, and Munich. She also discovered she hated Malta. In 1995, she traveled to Poland for a conference at the Auschwitz –Birkenau death camps. This experience was both somber and reflective for her.
In 2001, Bonnie and Hugh became snowbirds with a home in Port Charlotte, Florida. They enjoyed Florida in the winter and Wisconsin in the summer - for 17 years. Family and friends were frequent guests in Port Charlotte. Bonnie enjoyed fine dining and was a superb cook.
Bonnie was loving, beautiful, and generous. She also had an indomitable constitution, having survived Breast Cancer (1988) and Pancreatic Cancer (2011).
The memorial service for Bonnie will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St. John United Church of Christ (N67W28321 Sussex Rd), Hartland (Merton), Wisconsin, with Pastor Mary Jane Huber officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit the church directly from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. A reception will follow.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held this summer, with details to be made available soon.
