August E. Fabyan

August E. “Augie” Fabyan passed away at home on September 29, 2026, at the age of 84.

Augie is survived by his son, Erick (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Elise and Brendan; his sister, Adele (John); and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dona; his parents, Augie and Adele; and his brother, Jeff (Sue).

Augie was born in Muskegon, Michigan, and moved to Pewaukee, Wisconsin, as a child. He spent the remainder of his life in various homes around Pewaukee Lake.

Augie loved being outdoors. During the summer, he could usually be found boating, swimming, or fishing. In the fall, he enjoyed grouse hunting and taking in the fall colors at his cottage in Mercer, Wisconsin, which he often described as his happiest place. In the winter, he enjoyed snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing. Augie was also an avid reader, particularly later in life when physical limitations made many of his favorite outdoor activities more difficult.

Augie enjoyed his work and continued to stop by the office from time to time into his eighties. He also enjoyed spending winters at his home in Mission, Texas, and treasured the time he spent at his cottage in Mercer, where he was able to enjoy the outdoors and spend time with extended family.

Toward the end of his life, Augie reflected fondly on the life he had lived. He spoke of his love for Dona and the many great times they shared; he appreciated her willingness to join him in the activities and adventures he enjoyed. He was grateful for his family, his work, his time in Texas, his years on Pewaukee Lake, and the many memories made at his cottage. Augie lived a full life, and we will miss him.
