Rose Marie Schmidt, 79, of Delafield, WI died Monday, April 10, 2023. She passed peacefully at Hartland Terrace in Hartland, WI.
The former Rose Marie LeMahieu was born on August 2,1943 in Plymouth, WI; daughter to the late Ervin and Mary Ann (Olhschmidt) LeMahieu. She attended Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI where she studied biology and played basketball.
Rose Marie married Paul Schmidt on April 11, 1966. The couple made their home in Delafield, WI over 50 years ago where they raised their family. Rose Marie took great pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was hard-working, generous, and devout in her faith. She was an active member of the St. Charles Parish in Hartland, WI for many years. When her kids were young, she was a den mother and troop leader. She loved chocolate and you could always count on her having sweets of some sort in the house. Rose Marie was an avid animal lover and enjoyed just about any outdoor activity. She had the best sense of humor.
Rose Marie is survived by her brother; David LeMahieu (Spring Valley, IL), four children; Michael Schmidt (Lynn) of Phoenix, AZ, Steven Schmidt (Elise) of Nashotah, WI, Kevin Schmidt (Sarah) of North Prairie, WI, Nicole Tretow (Russ) of Waterford, WI; six grandchildren (Peyton, Cameron, Seth, Hannah, Sean and Mollie), nieces, nephews, cousins and many other close family friends.
She is preceded in death by husband, Paul Schmidt (1998), parents Ervin and Mary Ann LeMahieu and other loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rose Marie’s honor to Wisconsin Humane Society or the Alzheimer Foundation.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Marie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Charles Catholic Church (313 Circle Drive) Hartland, WI, with Fr. Ken Omernick officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at church from 10:00 a.m.
until the time of Mass. Due to construction, the church kindly request visitors park in the northeast parking lot.
Private family burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Plymouth, WI.
