Nick was a free spirit from the beginning; always an early riser, he interacted by giggling and laughing with his sparkling eyes. He was known to climb the fence at day care to escape and run home.
We lost our Nick unexpectedly much too early in life on November 19, 2023, just two months short of his 40th birthday. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 18, 1984 at a mere 5# 7oz. He was raised in Waukesha, WI, where he graduated from Waukesha South High School in 2002. He attended Waukesha County Technical College and earned an associate degree in Automotive Technology in 2004. This meshed well with his avid interest in cars and motorcycles and his ability to take machinery apart, fix it, and put it back together. After several years working in car dealerships, he moved on to working for Corix Utilities, traveling all over our state and beyond. He then began a career with WE Energies in 2012. Since then, he steadily advanced, earning more certifications and promotions. His last position with WE Energies was as Regulation Crew Leader, working out of the Fort Atkinson Service Center.
Nick had many and varied interests, including high school wrestling and cross country; snowboarding, fishing, collecting baseball cards and rebuilding cars. Later on in his 30’s, he took up body building and competed – with good results. He also took up deer hunting, mostly with a bow, and raced his beloved Subaru WRX/STI at Road America. Lastly, he became a wine enthusiast and perfected his skills at preparing delicious Wagyu beef dinners for friends and family. He doted on his two cats and loved children, especially his niece, Alister Grace.
Nick had a huge and sensitive heart, was generous with his time and talents, and was both kind and sharp witted. He was an especially loving son and brother, and a dear friend to many. He was an extraordinary human being and we are forever grateful for the 40 years we held him in our embrace. He will be deeply missed.
Nick is survived by his mother, Karen Robinson Kubale; his father, Joseph E. Ziedonis; step-father, Bernard S. Kubale; sister Lauren K. DiMartino (David); niece Alister Grace DiMartino, and grandmother, Bernice Roska Robinson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home 170 Warren Ave. Hartland, WI. Visitation with the family from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM with a Service at 12:00 PM.
Charitable donations in Nick’s honor may be made to Children’s Wisconsin for the Child Life Program, P.O. Box 1997 MS 3050, Milwaukee, WI 53201-1997.
