John Edward Harrington,of Port Washington and formerly of South Milwaukee, passed away due to complications from multiple myeloma on February 19, 2024, at the age of 83.
John was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he attended high school. He attended the University of Iowa and subsequently met his future wife, Priscilla. John’s early career in advertising took them to Los Angeles, CA where he and Priscilla wed in 1962. They moved back to Iowa and then to South Milwaukee, where John became a successful salesman in the printing industry. John and Priscilla raised five sons: Brad, Todd, Mitch, Phil, and Joe. John moved to Port Washington after Priscilla passed away, where he enjoyed being involved in his local church. John was always a hard worker and his favorite thing to do later in life was to go to his job as a cashier at Target where he interacted and socialized with members of the community. He will be remembered for his friendly smile, incredible work ethic, and pride in his family.
John is survived by his sons Brad (Natalie) Harrington of New Jersey, Todd (Kim) Harrington of Wisconsin, Phil (Lisa) Harrington of Wisconsin, and Joe (Ayse) Harrington of California. He is further survived by his grandchildren Jacob, Nicholas, Corrin, Joelle, Kaya, and Kaan.
John was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla, parents Paul and Leona Harrington, sister Patricia (Harrington) Day, and son Mitchell Harrington.
Evert Luko Funeral Home in Hartland, WI is serving the family. There will be a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Evert Luko Funeral Home (170 Warren Ave.) with a service at 12:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place following the service.
Memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Foundation.
