Richard D Harcus

December 1, 1948 — April 8, 2022

A longtime resident of Delafield. Richard David (Dick, Papa) Harcus, 73 of Delafield passed away peacefully April 8, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born in Brookfield, WI December 1, 1948 to David and Margaret (Boyd) Harcus.

Dick had a long career in the printing business working at W.A. Kruger, Wisconsin Color Press and retiring from Arandell.
In his retirement, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching NASCAR and Packer games, making sure all the wildlife in his yard was fed.

Papa enjoyed his summers taking care of his yard and mowing the lawn on his John Deer zero turn. Entertaining family and friends, grilling, bonfires, and enjoying the pool with an ice-cold Miller High Life in hand.
Dick had the gift of making friends wherever he went, and all were welcome at his home. Dick would always say “If the bar sign is on in the garage, stop in for a beer.”

In the winter months he enjoyed riding his snowmobile around the yard for a “hot lap” and would get the old 79 Orange Case snowblower out to clear the driveway. Making signs and tinkering in his basement workshop was a passion.

Throughout Dick’s long battle with cancer, he was always a source of positivity for everyone around him; his bravery and determination to beat cancer never wavered and his smile never faded. He will be loved and missed forever.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Brody Harcus; his children, Margaret and Matthew Harcus; stepchildren, Kelly Bukowsky, Amy (Bruce) Neumiller, and Beth (William) Adkins; brother, Donald Harcus; grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) Benjamin, Amanda (Jadon) Jace, Jackson, Eric, Justin and Emmerson; and great grandchildren, Zariah, Zaidan and Zayn. He is further survived by nieces, nephew, family and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Harcus; stepson, James Bukowsky II; and his four-legged companion, Maggie, his loyal and trusted Cocker Spaniel.

A memorial service for Richard will be at Evert Luko Funeral Home (170 Warren Ave. Hartland WI 53029) on Saturday April 16, 2022. Visitation from 10 am - 12 pm followed by the service and a luncheon, which will be held at the Delafield American Legion. Memorials are suggested to the family.
